How To Motivate Yourself To Workout When You Don’t Feel Like Exercising

We’ve all been there, struggling to find the motivation to work out on a particular day. Perhaps you’re tired from a hard day in the office, had a poor night’s sleep, or maybe you are just too stressed out. You might even be bored with your current workout routine, or feeling burnt out by training too hard. Whatever the reason, it can be difficult to motivate yourself to workout in certain circumstances.

The aim of this article, is to give you some tips on how to boost your motivation and get you firing on all cylinders again.

Reward Yourself Occasionally

If you’re struggling to find a reason to hit the gym, try promising yourself a reward once you have completed your workout. Treat yourself to a meal out, a shopping trip, or perhaps a date night with your partner. Using a reward as a goal to motivate yourself to workout can work wonders.

Switch Up Your Playlist

Music can have a huge impact on how effective your workout is and sometimes we can get bored of listening to the same playlist. Try using a service such as Spotify and set it to a channel you wouldn’t usually work out to. A change in the music you listen to can make a huge difference!

Track Your Progress

Many people can end up demotivated as they cannot see visible results for their efforts, which can lead them to think that they aren’t getting anywhere. By actively tracking your progress, you’ll be able to see how much weight you have lost, how much more extra weight you can lift, how much your cardiovascular endurance has improved amongst a host of other benefits.

Get Out And About

If you’ve been stuck indoors all day, it’s time to get some fresh air! Changing the location and scenery of your workout can really help to boost your motivation. Stuck for ideas? Try your local park, an outdoor gym or a race track for a new way and place to work out.

Try Something New

Boredom can dramatically affect your motivation to workout. Are you tired of your workout routine? Try a new workout, there’s plenty of options to choose from. You could try, boxing, martial arts, a yoga class, hill sprints, stair running or outdoor cycling. Making regular changes to your workout routine, can really help in your quest to stay motivated.

Do It Anyway

When it comes to the crunch, it’s dedication and persistence that will enable you to achieve your fitness goals. On days when you really don’t feel like working out, remember that feelings come and go, but your determination should ultimately be permanent in order to succeed. When you’re having a bad day, give yourself that extra push to workout. Once you’ve finished your workout, you’ll feel a lot better.
